How to read the result

Technical

Relief reduces chargeable income, so the saving is taxed at your marginal rate.

Plain English

Every dollar of relief saves you your top tax rate on that dollar, not your average rate.

Technical

SRS withdrawals at retirement are 50% taxable. CPF top-ups are locked in for retirement.

Plain English

SRS money can come out later. CPF top-up money mostly can't. That's the tradeoff.
